Each year, Ben Franklin Technology Partners hosts a Big Idea Contest to uncover and support innovative thinkers, entrepreneurs, and problem-solvers across Pennsylvania. Franklin Stove: One of Franklin’s notable inventions is the Franklin stove, also known as the Pennsylvania fireplace. This stove was designed to be more efficient than traditional fireplaces, providing more heat while using less fuel. It featured a hollow baffle near the rear to transfer more heat from the fire to the room, and it became a popular heating device in American homes during the 18th century.
