This week, at our December 2016 Board of Director’s meeting, eleven company projects were approved to receive funding and business support services from the program. Located in State College, FairTech Labs, LLC, developed Shelf Scouter, a SaaS platform, pre-integrated with a point-of-sale (POS) system that allows smaller, independent grocers to compete online by offering e-commerce grocery shopping services. www.shelfscouter.com

Also located in State College, Atoptix, LLC, has developed a handheld smartphone-compatible plant health sensor for farmers that enables them to diagnose crop disease early enough to take the corrective actions needed to reduce losses. www.ATOPTIX.com

CRIMEWATCH Technologies, Inc., located in Carlisle, PA, developed a network that distributes information via CRIMEWATCH-controlled websites, social media sites, mobile applications and TV kiosks, effectively solving communication problems for law enforcement and reducing crime. www.Crimewatchtech.com

Located in Boalsburg, PA, Sensor Networks, Inc., is developing permanently installed monitoring systems that remotely measure and report wall thickness data and corrosion rates to on-land and off-shore assets where metal degradation is a major problem. www.installedsensors.com

 Adiaon, LLC, located in Altoona, PA, developed an all-inclusive, scalable access control system that allows makerspaces to manage their facilities, equipment, and member payment processing and scheduling. Persea Naturals, LLC is introducing AvoColor, a yellow-red FDA exempt food color additive that addresses the growing natural food color requirements faced by food manufacturers. AvoColor has a high-color yield extracted from avocado seeds which is water soluble and available in liquid or dry form. www.avocolor.com

Located in Hummelstown, PA, SIG Medical Corporation, is a medical device manufacturing company that is developing a novel, minimally invasive surgical repair procedure for fractured ribs. This patented and FDA-approved system is less costly, less time consuming and less painful for the patient.

X Materials Processing, LLC, located in State College, PA, is producing advanced direct-metal 3D printing products and services. SAY Plastics, located in McSherrystown, PA, is an ISO-certified producer of thermoformed plastic components and assemblies. Reflexion Interactive Technologies, located in Lancaster, PA, focuses on the rapid screening of athletes to detect traumatic brain injury. In collaboration with Penn State University’s Kinesiology Center, the company plans to test their current prototype software platform.
