Ben Franklin Program Invests $1.2 Million in PA Startups

Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Central and Northern PA, announced today that eight companies, located in the 32-county footprint served by the Center, were recently approved by the Board of Directors to receive funding. The Ben Franklin Program, which this year celebrates its 30th year of service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, makes its investments in entrepreneurs, technology startups and small manufacturers who are developing new technologies, hiring additional staff, and increasing their sales/marketing efforts in order to compete in their respective markets.

 The companies that received Ben Franklin funding are:  

Chromatan Inc., a State College, PA, Biotechnology Company is commercializing a new method for purifying drugs called Countercurrent Tangential Chromatography.  The company’s innovation is a cost effective alternative to the current method, column chromatography. See www.chromatan.com

Maculogix, Inc., a company founded in Hershey, PA has developed a diagnostic tool for the early detection of age-related macular degeneration.  See www.maculogix.com

 Hatchback, LLC, located in Harrisburg, PA, has developed a platform that allows retailer loyalty programs to take advantage of geo-location data.  See www.hatchback.me

 Hot Mix Mobile, LLC, located in Lebanon, PA, manufactures a mobile, truck-mounted, mix-on-site volumetric Hot Mix Asphalt system.  RoadMixer™ repairs roads on demand, eliminating the need for cold patching.  See www.roadmixer.com

 CrimeWatch, located in the Ben Franklin TechCelerator in Carlisle, developed software that allows law enforcement agencies to use a simple web-tool to manage, organize, and control content relative to criminal activity.  See http://crimewatchPA.com

 Dataforma, Inc., located in York, PA provides business management software for roofing contractors.  The company developed a single source, web-based and mobile device platform to support all the needs of this and vertical markets.  See www.dataforma.com

 Lewis Designs, LLC, a startup located in Waterford, PA, is in the process of designing and testing prototypes for an innovative new braking system.  See http://lewisdesigns.us
