CONGRATULATIONS TO CONTROL LTD – THE LATEST WINNER OF BEN FRANKLIN’S PITCH EVENT!

Eight entrepreneurial teams just completed a ten-week, virtual, business startup boot camp.  This exciting program has been offered by Ben Franklin’s TechCelerator @State College, in partnership with the Invent Penn State initiative, for ten years. On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, beginning at 2:00 PM, the teams pitched their business concepts to a panel of independent judges for a cash prize of $10,000!

The team of Seth Pheng and Soph Horn at Control LTD, took first place with their concept for a patented, healthy dosing system for patients using cannabis.  In addition, the zoom audience members had the opportunity to vote for their favorite presentation and awarded a cash prize of $1,000. The People’s Choice Award was made to Meta Global Technologies. Daniel Dotterer is developing a remote veterinarian service that solves the problem of vet shortages especially in rural areas.

Other startups that participated included: Neodime, MasterCraft, Best Day Ever, ENPower, Immunagreen, and CUPOD.  Each represented an exciting mix of emerging products and services. Examples included a compound that produces “green” rare earth magnets; a web app that allows for paid reviews on creative work; an internet-based curriculum that can be downloaded for childcare activities; a stretchable, wireless, motion-driven energy harvester; a novel biopesticide for use in organic agriculture, and an innovation that creates the ability to make pure chlorine dioxide gas for disinfection and cleaning.

“We all worked collaboratively to support each other during the ten-week process.”

Bob Dornich, the Program Director for TechCelerator, commented, “Wow! What an amazing group of entrepreneurs. Everyone worked very hard for the past ten weeks, and it was easy to see the result of that effort in all the presentations. Congratulations to the prize winners, and to the whole group, for stepping forward and trusting us with their business concepts.”
